It makes it sound every time a drum is struck, it is essentially struck at different velocities. There’s a feature called wave cycle and this is glorious. The Genos delivers drum sounds that feel so realistic that if you close your eyes, you won’t be able to tell a difference. I mentioned above that the drum sounds are realistic. If you are in search of a metronome, check out my favorites above. If you’re going to be playing a lot of piano, there is a metronome for practicing. These play like real pianos and I think that even advanced pianists will love playing these samples.Ĭheck out these great sustain pedals that I recently wrote about in this article here. Up to 4,200 samples per key give way to an incredible organic sound. I think the CFX and C7 samples sound beautiful. I believe it is fantastic for those who are looking for a digital piano. I recently reviewed the Yamaha CP88 stage piano. Note: I believe that Yamaha wins in the key department with this product. This was quite the opposite with the Genos. I’ve played many arrangers in which I just couldn’t get into the keys.

I will say that I was impressed with the key-action. This allows you to mess with different velocity curves. The keys have aftertouch and have a 7 setting touch-response. You will notice that there are 76 keys on the Genos. This isn’t one of those as the Yamaha Genos is pretty simple to navigate.

Sometimes when you sit down at a keyboard, you have to figure out how to navigate your way around them. This is a big plus in my eyes because I don’t like keyboards that are super busy.Įverything is laid out where it should be in my opinion. The Genos is similar to the Tyros 5, only it’s much less crowded.

However, if you’re into arranger keyboards, you won’t really need to upgrade from this anytime soon. Note: I mentioned that this keyboard is super expensive, and, it is.

It is perfect for musicians who aren’t looking to dive super deep into editing, rather, write and play songs as if they were a full band. This means that it is primarily for musicians who want to to play songs and have a band with them at all times. It is important to note that the Yamaha Genos arranger is, after all, an arranger. If you like workstation keyboards in general, check out this guide that I made recently. Everything on this arranger keyboard is laid out in a way that makes sense and is user-friendly. It looks crisp and clean and it means business. The first thing that catches my eye with the Yamaha Genos is the beautiful interface.
